Greetings Parents,

This is a friendly reminder that Tuesday, November 8, 2022, is a teacher professional learning day. Students will not report to the school building on November 8, 2022. Students are expected to participate in a digital learning day from home on November 8, 2022. On Tuesday, students should log into their Clever accounts to access their assignments on the Canvas platform. Student computers will be sent home on Monday, November 7, 2022. Students should return their devices on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.  It is critical that students bring their devices and chargers when they return back to school on Wednesday, so they do not miss an opportunity to complete digital assignments in class.

Please e-mail their homeroom teacher if you have questions or need assistance accessing the platform on Tuesday.

See attachment with instructions to sign in to Chromebook and Clever.

Thank you,

The Pine Ridge E.S. Administrative Team

Attention Pine Ridge Parents/Guardians.

Your child’s 2022-2023 FALL MAP® (Measures of Academic Progress) Growth™ assessment results were sent home Monday, October 24, 2022. These assessments not only determine your child’s instructional level, but also measure their academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in Math, Reading, and Language arts.

MAP Growth tests from NWEA® are unique in that they are adaptive tests taken on a computer or tablet. This means the test becomes more difficult when your child answers a question correctly. And when your child answered a question incorrectly, the test became easier. Ultimately, your child took a test specifically targeting their learning level. In addition, since the information presented on the test is aligned with the Georgia Department of Education curriculum, it is the same information that your child should have already been exposed to in school.

Your child’s MAP Growth results are represented as RIT scores. Like inches on a ruler, the RIT scale measures in equal intervals, regardless of a student’s grade—and it remains stable over time. As a result, we can accurately measure students’ growth in between tests and understand if they are performing on, above, or below grade level. RIT scores enable teachers to recognize where to focus attention to optimize your child’s learning and to monitor their progress.

I hope you find these reports informative. If you have questions, please contact your school’s testing coordinator at 678-676-3402. For more information about MAP Growth, visit: NWEA.org/Parent-Toolkit.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jill Adams

Assistant Principal
